Via Entertainment Weekly, Walt Disney Pictures has already roughly planned out the release dates for the next five Star Wars movies (subject to change).
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the next feature in line, is of course more fleshed out than the other four and has a starry cast lined up including this past year’s Academy Award-nominated actress Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) and Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland). Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) directs from a script by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz. Principal photography began this past summer. See a pic of the cast below:
Rian Johnon, writer and director of 2012’s critically acclaimed science fiction thriller Looper starring Bruce Willis (Rock the Kasbah) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Walk) has been tapped to write and direct Star Wars: Episode VIII, and to pen Star Wars: Episode IX.
The makers of last year’s critical and commercial hit The LEGO Movie, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, are set to direct a Han Solo origins story. The big question of the day is, who can play the young Han Solo and do the character justice? Harrison Ford is a hard act to follow. Lawrence Kasdan, who penned Star Wars Episode VII – Return of the Jedi and co-wrote Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will be back to write the Han Solo movie along with his son Jon Kasdan.
Colin Trevorrow, writer-director of this year’s mega box office hit Jurassic World is slated to direct Star Wars: Episode IX.
