The first trailer for Universal’s thriller Everest has dropped and depicts a star-studded cast making their way to the top of the world’s tallest mountain. They reach it, only to be confronted with one of the worst snowstorms ever encountered on the mountain as they make their descent.
The movie features a mix of American and British actors, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Keira Knightley, Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, and Emily Watson. Everest is helmed by Baltasar Kormakur from a screenplay by William Nicholson and Simon Beaufoy. Much like Kormakur’s 2012 survival film The Deep, Everest is set on a grand scale and will be released in 3D and Imax 3D.
The movie’s second unit crew were on the mountain when a deadly avalanche struck Base 2, killing 13, but none of the crew were injured. You can check out our previous coverage of that story here. At the end of the above trailer, you can find a link to donate to the relief effort for the tragic earthquake that recently struck Nepal.
Universal has slated Everest for a September 18, 2015 release.
