After her latest success with Kingsman: The Secret Service, Jane Goldman is taking to her pen again with the gothic tale Limehouse Golem. The newest cast member to come on is Alan Rickman (Harry Potter), alongside Olivia Cooke (The Signal) and Douglas Booth (Jupiter Ascending).
Rickman has just come from directing and staring in A Little Chaos, where he played King Louis XIV.
Goldman’s previous projects have included Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. She has plenty of experience under her belt, but with this project she seems to be going back to her Woman In Black territory.
Limehouse Golem is adapted from Peter Ackyroyd’s novel “Dan Leno and the Limehouse Golem”. This murder mystery is set in Victorian London, in the dangerous Limehouse district. A grizzly look at the lower class living, the story follows the trial of Elizabeth Cree, who is accused of poisoning her husband and may be the only one who knows the truth of what’s happening in the Limehouse district.
Goldman is set to tackle this gothic murder mystery and with a seasoned actor such as Rickman to come on board, has all the potential to be a success.
