Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke (Training Day) takes the ride of his life with international singing sensation and starlet Selena Gomez (Spring Breakers, Wizards of Waverly Place) in director Courtney Solomon’s (An American Haunting) action-packed thriller Getaway, opening Labor Day weekend. The original script is by Gregg Maxwell Parker and Sean Finegan.
Brent Magna, played by Hawke, is a burnt out race car driver whose wife (Rebecca Budig from All My Children) is being held hostage by a mysterious villain, played by Academy Award winning Jon Voight (Coming Home, Midnight Cowboy). A custom GT500 Shelby Cobra Mustang Super Snake (seen below) plays what amounts to a supporting role in the film, as Magna is forced to commandeer the vehicle while attempting to rescue his wife.
Magna has been pitted against the clock. His only ally for saving his wife is the young owner of the car – Selena Gomez, known only as ‘The Kid’. The Kid is an unwilling participant who is also a savvy computer hacker. Her ferocious vehicle has been outfitted with mounted cameras, making it easy for Jon Voight to monitor every move. Voight gives orders and makes demands, orchestrating the face paced, nail-biting adventure.
Paul Freemna (Raiders of the Lost Arc) and Bruce Payne (Dungeons & Dragons) also star in the film.
Getaway is from Dark Castle Entertainment and After Dark Films, with Courtney Solomon, Steve Richards, Moshe Diamanti, and Joel Silver producing. Warner Bros. is distributing.
