With all the excitement over the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s easy to forget that Disney has a separate Marvel comic adaptation coming to theaters in just over a week. Big Hero 6‘s promotional material has thus far featured mostly Hiro (Ryan Potter) and his robot Baymax (Scott Adsit). A collection of clips from Disney gives us a better chance to meet the rest of the team along with Hiro’s older brother Tadashi (Daniel Henney).
The clips show Tadashi giving Hiro a tour of the science lab at the university Tadashi and his friends attend. More than just science majors, each student has a science project that reflects their hobby. The aloof Go Go Tomago (Jamie Chung) wants to build the fastest bike in the world. Wasabi (Damon Wayans Jr.) uses “laser-induced plasma” beams to cut apples and other ingredients into razor-thin slices. Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez) uses chemistry and metals for… party balloons? She certainly seems enthusiastic about her creation (whatever it is). And finally Fred the mascot (T.J. Miller). He isn’t actually a student, he just loves science. Hiro is a young robotics prodigy and will use his knowledge to create superhero outfits for his new friends. The trailers for Big Hero 6 have already told as that much though we can likely expect the other heroes’ skills to help save the day too.
Big Hero 6 is directed by Chris Williams and Don Hall, written by Robert L. Baird, Daniel Gerson, and Jordan Roberts, and produced by Roy Conli. The film premieres on November 7.
