A creepy boarding school, the dead of winter, evil activity. . . what could go wrong? Emma Roberts and Kiernan Shipka will star in the upcoming horror thriller February, which is being shopped to distributors at the Toronto International Film Festival this month.
The original script was written by actor Osgood Perkins (Secretary, Legally Blonde), who will also be making his directorial debut with the picture. It seems that a knack for thrills and chills runs in his family, as he is perhaps most widely recognized as the son of Anthony Perkins, the man who played Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. Producing the film will be Bryan Bertino, Adrienne Biddle, and Rob Paris.
Roberts has been going strong in FX’s American Horror Story, of which the new season Freak Show is premiering this October. She will also be seen next year alongside James Franco in Michael and alongside Sam Worthington in Hunter’s Prayer. Shipka is well-known for her role as Sally, the daughter of ad-exec Don Draper in AMC’s Mad Men. Currently on hiatus, the award-winning series will be concluding next year. February will be a chance for Shipka to transition from television actress to film star.
If the film gets picked up, there could be a possible theatrical release date early next year. Maybe even in February…
Stay tuned for more TIFF coverage.
