If you ever thought it was a universal truth that the lives children are sacred in movies, check out the trailer for Jonas Govaert’s Cub. The Belgian boy scout butchering horror film will have its premiere at the 2014 Toronto International film festival on Wednesday, September 10th. Enjoy the creeping kid-singing
Cub is a horror movie about Sam, a twelve-year-old imaginative boy who goes to camp in the woods with his pack of cub scouts. Together with the other cubs and the leaders of the pack Sam finds himself in a dark wood where a psychopathic poacher and his masked helper live. What the cubs don’t know is that the poacher has laid out ingenious, lethal traps all over the forest.
So think The Goonies and Moonrise Kingdom with a higher body count.
The cast consists of Belgian natives, including Evelien Bosmans (Marina), Titus De Voogdt (Any Way the Wind Blows), Jan Hammenecker (The Family), and newcomer Maurice Luijten as Sam. Govaert wrote the film with Roel Mondelaers.
The 2014 Toronto International film festival runs from September 4 to September 14.
