The weekend was a sleepy one for the box office. Sadly, the anticipated release of Digger, led by Tom Cruise, massively underperformed at the box office. Most notably from Amazon came Verity which premiered with 32.6 million, and a first-place finish. In second came Resident Evil, with 12.5 million, beating Heart of the Beast, which brought in 11 million. Primetime dropped to fourth place with 8 million, just eeking by Digger, which landed with an abysmal trail of divided critics in fifth.
Making up the bottom half of the top ten is Forgotten Island, which scored 7.2 million and a sixth place finish for its sophomore outing. Avengers Endgame: Encore stayed in the top ten with 4.4 million and a seventh-place finish. Drishyam – The Conclusion in its domestic release netted 2.7 million from American audiences, beating Practical Magic 2, which finished its fourth week with 2.6 million. Spider-Man: Brand New Day hangs on to the top ten for ten week, finishing in tenth with 2.45 million still after ten weeks in theaters.
