Fans of the Gremlins films will have to wait just a little bit longer to see the next movie in the franchise. As Warner Bros. shifts its film slate, the studio announced that the upcoming third Gremlins movie has been delayed by nearly 11 months. Originally planned for a release on Nov. 19, 2027, the film will now be released on Oct. 6, 2028.  The new date was accompanied by a short clip that featured the iconic furry creature picking out of a bookbag against a foggy background.

Not much is known about this third Gremlins movie, other than who is writing and directing. Chris Columbus, the screenwriter of the original Gremlins, is directing, with a script by Hannah Marks based on an earlier draft by Columbus and Final Destination: Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein. Chris Columbus is producing the film, along with Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario through Amblin Entertainment, and Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe through 26th Street Pictures. Executive Producers are Steven Spielberg and, through Maiden Voyage, Eleanor Columbus.

Gremlins 3 isn’t the only film to be delayed. DC Studios’ animated film Dynamic Duo, which will follow two Robins, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, was also delayed from June 30, 2028, to Sept. 22, 2028. The film is a collaboration between DC Studios and Swaybox, a studio that combines stop-motion animation and physical puppetry, and will feature a mix of stop-motion, CG animation, and physical puppetry.
