Netflix is diving into another popular book adaptation. According to Deadline,the streamer has picked up the film rights to Deep End, the bestselling romance novel by Ali Hazelwood, with Alex Cooper and Shawn Levy attached as producers.

Deadline reports that Cooper will produce through her Unwell Productions banner alongside Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment. Hazelwood, whose novels have become favorites among romance readers, is also serving as an executive producer on the adaptation.

Published earlier this year, Deep End follows a competitive diver and an elite swimmer whose lives become unexpectedly intertwined. As the two athletes spend more time together, they begin to navigate the pressures of their sport while developing a complicated relationship of their own. The novel quickly found an audience after its release, making it a natural choice for a film adaptation.

While the project is still in the early stages of development, Deadline notes that a writer, director, and cast have not yet been announced. Even so, the combination of Hazelwood’s bestselling novel, Netflix’s backing, and producers Alex Cooper and Shawn Levy has already created excitement among fans eager to see the story brought to the screen.
