U.K.-based production banner Action Xtreme has officially launched a theatrical distribution arm across the U.K. and Ireland, marking a significant strategic expansion for the studio. The company will launch its new division with the theatrical release of the point-of-view action thriller Bad Day at the Office.

Directed and co-written by Action Xtreme Chief Executive Officer Chee Keong Cheung, the feature film will make its world premiere as the opening title of the Midnight Madness program at the 79th Edinburgh International Film Festival on August 13, 2026. Following its festival run, Action Xtreme will roll out the film across cinemas in the U.K. and Ireland this October.

Shot entirely from a first-person perspective using GoPro cameras, Bad Day at the Office stars John Hannah as Karl, a man who awakens in a damaged hotel room with total amnesia regarding the previous night’s events. After discovering a corpse in the bathtub, Karl is forced into a high-stakes struggle alongside a hotel maid, played by Radha Mitchell, as assassins converge on their location. The ensemble supporting cast includes Lana Parrilla, Tamer Hassan, Branko Tomović, Victor Gardener, Roxanne McKee, and Tim Fellingham.

Co-written by Oliver Morran, the film is produced by Cheung, Andreas Roald, and Ioanna Karavela. According to Roald, who serves as Co-CEO of Action Xtreme, establishing direct theatrical distribution represents a crucial milestone in transforming the company from a standalone production label into an integrated genre hub. In addition to its own titles, the distributor plans to acquire third-party commercial action and genre properties for domestic theatrical releases.

Action Xtreme’s broader infrastructure includes talent development initiatives and an MA in Action Filmmaking in partnership with Falmouth University. The studio’s upcoming slate features the sci-fi thriller The Experiment, starring Rhona Mitra and Famke Janssen, alongside several international co-productions currently in development.
