The critics’ score for Evil Dead Burn, the latest film in the Evil Dead franchise, has officially been revealed. The film debuted with a fresh 78% score on the review aggregator site. It has since dropped two points to 76% as of this writing.
This score puts the film at a lower Rotten Tomatoes score than the highest-rated titles in the franchise, such as the original Evil Dead from 1981 (81%), Evil Dead II (88%), and the previous Evil Dead movie, 2023’s Evil Dead Rise (85%). It is, however, higher than 2013’s Fede Alvarez-directed quasi-remake, Evil Dead, which currently has the franchise’s lowest score at 64%.
Evil Dead Burn centers around a grieving family who find themselves fending for their lives after several of their in-laws are transformed into deadites (the main supernatural threat of the Evil Dead franchise). Directed by Sébastien Vaniček, the film stars Souheila Yacoub, George Pullar, Luciane Buchanan, Tandi Wright, and Erroll Shand. Despite the somewhat mixed critical reception, this won’t be the end of the Evil Dead franchise. The next film in the franchise, titled Evil Dead Wrath, is already well into production and slated for a release in 2028.
Audiences can see Evil Dead Burn for themselves, as the film is now playing in theaters.
