The Coen brothers are ramping up for the next picture, and it seems they’ve added a second actor to their cast. Josh Brolin is set to star alongside George Clooney in Coens’ Hail Caesar!, which centers on the story of a Hollywood fixer in the 1950s who works to keep the studio’s stars in line.
Hollywood darlings Ethan and Joel Coen enjoy a steady line of high-profile and low-profile actors eager and waiting for an opportunity to appear in a Coen brothers’ film. The Coens are notorious for their great casting choices, as they seem to make even the smallest character a memorable one. Brolin has already appeared in one Coen brothers’ film, their Oscar-winning No Country For Old Men (2007). It’s no surprise he would jump at the chance to appear in another one of their films.
Brolin has a plethora of movie roles on his resume, and he seems to keep quite a busy schedule. He’s voicing the Marvel villain Thanos for Guardians Of The Galaxy as well as for Avengers: Age Of Ultron. He’ll also appear in Frank Miller’s Sin City sequel, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For as well as Paul Thomas Anderson’s next picture, Inherent Vice, both releasing later this year.
No word yet on who will take on the role of the fixer. It seems Brolin and Clooney will each play studio stars in the film. One would think that wouldn’t much of a challenge for them. Then again, this will be a Coen brothers’ movie and all bets are off. We’ll look forward to more information on this story as it develops.
