Toy Story is back on top of the world with Toy Story 5 earning 170 million for the franchise’s best opening stateside. Despite the previous outing seeing mixed reactions (Toy Story 4), Toy Story 5 has recaptured audiences’ hearts, with some even claiming that it elevates the fourth now into a more satisfying story. Whether it will keep up this momentum for the rest of its box office life will remain to be seen. In second place came Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day with 17.2 Million in its second week for a total of 78.4 million, keeping the father of Blockbusters in the top three. Third place went to Obsession with 14.2 million in its sixth week as it continued its domination as the most popular horror film of 2026 so far.
Backrooms found its spot in fourth place with 7.5 million in its fourth week for an incredible total of $175.3 million, just about over 10 times its budget. Scary Movie came in fifth place with 6.6 million in its third week as it kept audiences laughing and terrified.
The bottom half of the top ten was starts with Masters of the Universe in sixth place with 4.9 million and a grand total of 56.2 million and its third week for the action film. Seventh place went to The Mandalorian and Grogu, which brought home 4 million in its fifth week and has a decent total of 171.8 million for a less than stellar Star Wars run. Eighth place went to Leviticus from Neon and pulled 3 million for his opening premiere putting it ahead of fellow newcomer the Death of Robin Hood from A24, which brought in 2.5 million for its premiere. While the Indie films were battling it out, Michael slid into tenth place with 2.1 million in its ninth week as it continues to attract audiences. One last notable film from the Indie circuit is Girls Like Girls which just barely made the top 10, falling behind Michael for its premiere with 2 million.
