

As stated by Deadline, Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Nope) and Teyana Taylor (Madea’s Big Happy Family, Coming 2 America) will be starring in the action-crime thriller film The Parlay. The film will be directed by Shaka King (Newlyweeds, Don’t Tell Mama). King and Kaluuya previously worked together in the film Judas and the Black Messiah. Details on the film’s plot have yet to be revealed to the public.
Skip Bronkie (Limetown, Him) and Zack Ackers (The Wilderness, Against the Tide) created the original screenplay. King, Ackers and Bronkie are editing and revising the script. The producers include King and Brandon Harris (She Pedals Fast (For A Girl), Someone Else) of the I’d Watch That production studio, Adam McKay (Don’t Look Up, Step Brothers) from Hyperobject Industries and Kaluuya from 59% Productions.
Kaluuya has some notable projects coming out, from writing a Spider-Punk film and producing a live action Barney film for his production company. He is repped by B-Side Management, Johnson Shapiro Slewett Kole and WME.
Taylor is an actress, choreographer, filmmaker and recording artist. She received a Grammy nomination this year for Best R&B Album for her album Escape Room. A few of her notable roles include Inez de la Paz in A Thousand and One, Detective Kay Raymond in Straw, Milan in All’s Fair and Detective Numa Baptiste in The Rip. She is represented by Taylormade Management and WME.
