Curry Barker made his theatrical debut with the horror film Obsession, which received critical acclaim and was a box-office success. Obsession has already earned over $73 million domestically, $22 million internationally, for a worldwide total of over $95 million. All on an estimated budget of only $750,000. Now, the filmmaker is looking at another upcoming project.
According to sources reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Barker has received preemptive offers from a studio of up to $10 million for this project, said to be another original horror film.
The deal is said to be similar to the one made when Obsession was purchased by Focus Features and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster at the Toronto International Film Festival back in 2025. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter even reports that both studios were the first to approach Barker with this film, but that the deal fell through. It must be noted that these reports by The Hollywood Reporter haven’t been fully confirmed, with no confirmation from representatives of Universal Pictures or Focus Features.
No details are currently known about Curry Barker’s next film, aside from the fact that it will be an original horror. No producers are currently attached either.
Barker’s follow-up to Obsession, Anything But Ghosts, has already been shot and will be released by Focus Features. Barker is also working on a Texas Chainsaw Massacre film for A24.
