A24 just released a trailer for their new spin on a classic character. A special look for their upcoming title, The Death of Robin Hood, has been released online, ahead of its debut later this summer.
Towards the end of his life, Robin Hood suffers a serious injury during a battle that causes him to realize his time is waning. But when he’s found and given treatment, Robin Hood looks back on his life and reflects deeply on the choices and decisions that led him to this point. The character of Robin Hood has remained an icon of not only film but storytelling in general for years upon years. Joining the ranks of the plethora of actors to play Robin Hood is none other than Hugh Jackman, adding the fabled character to his already expansive resume. Alongside Jackman is a star-studded cast, consisting of Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, and Noah Jupe.
The Death of Robin Hood comes to audiences from writer/director Michael Sarnoski. With a small yet robust filmography, Sarnoski has worked on several shorts, but has a fair selection of noteworthy feature-length titles to his name. He directed the Quiet Place prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, as well as the Nicolas Cage-led drama Pig. He’s also slated to work with A24 again in the future, as he’s in line to write and direct the film adaptation of Death Stranding.
The Death of Robin Hood hits theaters June 19th. Check out the trailer below.
