This is the way. A new trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu has dropped during the Super Bowl.
Although Moff Gideon was defeated, and it’s been many years since the Empire has fallen, remnants of the Imperial Navy are still scattered throughout the galaxy. With these remnants still causing problems, notorious bounty hunter Din Djarin, and his young companion Grogu, are enlisted by the recently formed New Republic to help legitimize their strength in the galaxy.
Rather than showcase more of the action that other trailers have promised, the new Super Bowl teaser takes a different approach: a nice tauntaun-drawn carriage ride through the snow. Opposed to taking the angle of advertising the action that comes with Star Wars, the new teaser for Mando & Grogu plays it off almost as a nature documentary, giving plenty of focus on the Tauntauns.
This will also mark the first time that the creatures have been seen in a Star Wars film since 1980’s Empire Strikes Back. Going back nearly 50 years, the creatures were used by the Rebel Alliance on Hoth when they were still trying to evade the Empire. Although the snow planet in the teaser does bear a resemblance to Hoth, it’s unclear if it’s the exact same planet.
Pedro Pascal returns to Star Wars once again, as he’s reprising his role as The Mandalorian himself. Pascal will be joined by film legend Sigourney Weaver, courtesy of a Disney press release, making her way into the world of Star Wars for the first time in her career. Also included will be Jeremy Allen White, Steve Blum, and Johnny Coyne.
The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters May 22nd. Check out the new teaser below.
