Margot Robbie, who is starring in Emerald Fennell’s latest film alongside Jacob Elordi, revealed that she and Elordi became inseparable on set. The film, which casts the two into a vitriolic love affair, is a new adaptation of the classic Emily Brontë novel of the same title.
In one interview, Margot Robbie stated,
I’m so codependent with people I work with, and I love everyone so much, and I’m always that person who’s so devastated when a job’s over, and I never want it to end. I think I developed that quite quickly with Jacob too… I went through everything and I mapped it all out to a different color. When she was with Heathcliff, it was always pink to red. The closer you were, the stronger the pink-red color would be. Then the further you were, I would be more blue.
Similarly, Elordi said that he “really didn’t like shooting when Margot wasn’t there” in a separate interview.
Wuthering Heights is the latest in a long list of adaptations of the classic novel. The story follows Catherine (Margot Robbie) and Heathcliff (Jacob Elordi) in a love story that quickly turns tragic. The film is directed by Emerald Fennell, who is most well-known for directing Promising Young Woman and Saltburn.
Saltburn, in particular, was wildly popular but also created a lot of heated discourse online. Because of this, as well as the reputation of the source material, Wuthering Heights will likely be a divisive release. Still, it will be the go-to movie for couples this Valentine’s Day when it releases on February 13.
