

Avatar: Fire and Ash lags a little behind its predecessor at this point in its box office run but at a global tally of $760.4 million thanks to its strong sophomore outing it’s likely to cross a billion dollars by years ends. Disney’s Christmas wins continue to stack up as Zootopia 2 in its fifth week takes home $20 million and a second place finish even after crossing a billion itself earlier this year. Lilo and Stitch‘s live action remake was the first film to cross a billion making Disney the only studio with three billion dollar films this year.
A24 took third place in its Timothée Chalamet-led Marty Supreme as the first of the specialty box office offered up by the indie studio. Hitting the mark with $17.52 million also in its sophomore outing.
Fourth place went to another sophomore with The Housemaid and $15.4 million, with newcomer Jack Black’s Anaconda taking home $14.55 million rounding out the top five.
The new Christian animated film from Angel Studios that dropped last week, David, fell down from a second place start to sixth in its second week with $12.69 million.
Seventh went to The SpongeBob Movie: The Search for Squarepants with $11.2 million as this week’s last sophomore.
A newcomer with Song Sung Blue took eighth with $12.02 million, including previews for its opening weekend despite a limited release. Wicked: For Good dropped to ninth after six weeks of commanding the box office with $5.26 million. The list is rounded out by another November hold over in the form of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 with $4.4 million in tenth place.
Neon also saw success with extremely well performing limited releases both over the last few weeks and this week with both Sentimental Value and It Was Just An Accident continuing to stay on limited screens and reach incredible sales. From Searchlight was newcomer The Testament of Ann Lee, which despite also only being on limited screens raked in $111K despite only having 4 theaters to host. MUBI brought Father, Mother, Sister, Brother to only four theaters as well and scored $94K. IFC brought The Plague to only two theaters with $36.5K for its run.
