Sources such as Variety and CNN have confirmed that Meghan Markle is set to make a small cameo role in Jason Orley’s upcoming film Close Personal Friends.
The feature follows a “normal” couple that encounters a celebrity couple on their trip to Santa Barbara. The pairs become fast friends, but then “lines are crossed and things get awkward.” Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding are set to star in the comedy, with other appearances by Anna Konkle, Melissa Villaseñor, Natasia Demetriou, Jack Shaloo, Patti Harrison, and Dustin Demri-Burns. Isaas Aptaaker wrote the screenplay based on a story that he and Orley worked on together. Aptaker, Elizabeth Berger, Ashley Fox, and Johnny Pariseau are to produce.
Before becoming Duchess, Markle was known for her role as Rachel Zane in the USA legal drama Suits, which she appeared in for seven seasons while the series ran for nine. Markle also had appearances in films like Remember Me and Horrible Bosses. In 2018, Markle married Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and they have two children together. Markle’s last filmed acting was her final season of Suits, which she filmed in 2017.
Principal photography for Close Personal Friends began in London and Los Angeles in late September.
