Although the sequel to Superman, titled Man Of Tomorrow, is two years away, the production team has been giving fans new bits of details about the film as time goes on. One of the most recent updates, coming from director James Gunn himself, confirms the direction that the story will be headed in.
Still in preproduction, Man Of Tomorrow will no doubt pick up where Superman left off, when Superman managed to thwart Lex Luthor’s plans to bring him down, landing Luthor in prison. Both David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult will be returning as Superman and Lex, respectively.
Guardians Of The Galaxy director and new DC Studios co-head James Gunn elaborated on how the story could take shape moving into the sequel. Gunn stated that Man Of Tomorrow will be more focused on the duality of Superman and Lex, rather than just the Man of Steel himself.
As ScreenRant reports, Gunn went very in depth when it comes to Lex, especially in the way he’s set to be depicted. He explained how Lex has a personality that doesn’t give up, but above all else commented on his ambition to take down someone so powerful and so beloved as Superman.
“I can’t help but admire his tenacity and his ego. I mean, his ambition is beyond compare,” he told the Ringer-Verse during a podcast episode.
