After the annual ceremony last night, another season of the Academy Awards has drawn to a close. With the close of the season, many are commenting on the quality of the show itself, saying it’s one of the best in recent years.
Being the 97th run of the awards show, this time around it was hosted by Conan O’Brien. O’Brien, known mostly for his comedic style, took over hosting from Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted for the last two years of the show, as well as several other years before that.
Many different people on X complimented the quality of not only the show but the awards as well. Anora was the big winner, taking home Best Picture this year, while Mikey Madison won for her role in the film, as well. Adrien Brody won Best Actor, for his work in The Brutalist.
Similarly, many would commend O’Brien’s hosting skills, with some even saying he’s one of the best hosts. MovieWeb even noted that the Oscars, which have struggled in ratings recently, saw a spike in viewership this year, which O’Brien stated during the show.
While hosting, O’Brien infused the show with moments of comedy that both he and his talk show are frequently associated with. He began the show with a preamble about film not only as an industry but as an art form, as well, highlighting the power that any movie can have. Later on in the show, he also had a segment showcasing the LAFD and those who fought the wildfires that ripped through Los Angeles early this year.
