Ariana Grande, starring as Glinda the Good Witch in the upcoming Wicked film adaptation, has chosen to use her full name, Ariana Grande-Butera, in the film’s credits — and there’s a meaningful reason behind it.
In an interview with The Streaming Service, Grande shared that when she first saw Wicked, she was 10 years old and went by the name Ariana Grande-Butera. She said that using her full name now is a “lovely way of honoring that. It felt really full circle, and it just felt like something I wanted to do.”
In a recent interview with the Sentimental Men podcast, Grande discussed the challenges and initial reactions surrounding her casting as Glinda. She emphasized that she feels she’s truly earned her place in the film, and fans are excited to see her unique take on the beloved character.
Wicked, directed by Jon M. Chu, will premiere on Nov. 22 in the U.S. and U.K., with the second part set for release on Dec. 25, 2025. The cast includes Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey and more, building anticipation for fans of the musical.
Grande’s dedication to honoring her roots in the Wicked film promises to add even more depth to this beloved story as it makes its way to the screen.
