While teasing the Freaky Friday sequel Freakier Friday, Lindsay Lohan revealed that Good Place star Manny Jacinto will be playing her husband along with her mom/daughter Jamie Lee Curtis. “Manny plays Lindsay’s husband, but that’s as much as we can say,” Curtis told Entertainment Weekly according to Deadline reporting before Lohan raved, “Manny is lovely, so funny.” The sequel has been written by Jordan Weiss and directed by Nisha Ganatra and is currently filming. The filming kicked off in June with a photo shoot of Lee Curtis and Lohan in front of their dressing rooms, according to Deadline.
The 2003 adaptation featured Lohan and Lee Curtis as single mother Tess and her teen daughter Anna, who switch bodies after opening an enchanted fortune cookie after which they are forced to live each other’s lives for a full day before switching back. The sequel will pick up with a grown-up Anna with a daughter of her own while preparing to take in a stepdaughter in a new marriage. A new body swap will follow this new family dynamic.
According to Deadline, alongside Jacinto, Lohan, and Lee Curtis, Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan have been cast in the sequel. They will be joined by returning cast members Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao.
