Jonathan Majors’ trial has once again been moved due to legal complications. Through Majors’ legal team asking to set aside the verdict, the final sentencing will be delayed to April 8th.
Earlier this year, a Manhattan jury convicted Jonathan Majors for two counts of harassment and assault while also clearing him of other charges in March. However, by putting aside the verdict, Majors’ team bought enough time for Majors to reorganize their defenses. Judge Michael Gaffey states this motion will allow the prosecution to respond to their decisions.
In late 2023, Jonathan was arrested for allegedly attacking his girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, after the latter claimed to have found messages in his phone. Jabbari claimed that once she confronted him over the messages in their car, Majors allegedly stole the phone from her, causing wounds on her finger and head. While Majors did not testify during this trial, his team claimed that Jabbari was the instigator in the incident.
Majors himself later spoke about the incident during an interview on Good Morning America, where he denied hurting Jabbari and claimed that he should have left the relationship in the first place. Majors believed that he would have been fine if he hadn’t been in the car or with Jabbari in the first place. “If I’m man enough or brave enough to say, ‘I want to see someone else’ or ‘I’m done now,’ I’m not in that car. We’re not here. I’m responsible for those things,” he claimed.
Either way, these charges have affected Majors’ career for the worse. He was fired from his role as Kang the Conqueror in Marvel and dropped by Entertainment 360 and the Lede Company. Based on the charges he has been facing this past year, there is a high chance he could get about one year in prison.
