Gwenyth Paltrow continues to make headlines in her civil court case involving a ski crash incident. Although the alleged collision occurred in 2016, the highly publicized case is taking place now and making headlines all over the internet.
Terry Sanderson, a retired optometrist, initially sued Paltrow for $3 million over an alleged collision on Utah’s Deer Valley Resort’s slopes. Although Sanderson’s case has now gone down to $300,000, Paltrow is countersuing him for damages of $1 and attorney’s fees.
Sanderson alleges that he was hit on the upscale resort’s slopes seven years ago by Paltrow as she was skiing with an instructor and family. Sanderson said he suffered several broken ribs and a brain injury in the incident and claimed Paltrow skied off before assuring he got immediate medical attention.
Paltrow alleges that Sanderson was the one who skied into her, causing them both to fall over.
“You skied into my f-ing back!” Paltrow embarrassingly admitted she yelled after the incident occurred. “I don’t know if he’s lying, [but] what he is saying is not the truth,” Paltrow said on the stand. “Mr. Sanderson categorically hit me on that ski slope. … it’s the truth.”
Sanderson’s attorney, in a now-viral video, asked Paltrow if her countersuit was in reference to Taylor Swift’s sexual assault suit in 2017 where she symbolically sued radio DJ David Mueller for $1. Paltrow unenthusiastically replied, “we aren’t close.”
Next week, Paltrow’s husband and children, who were all skiing with her when the incident occurred, will take the stand for the defense, while Sanderson’s testimony has been rescheduled.
