Jonathan Majors was arrested for allegedly assaulting and strangling a woman in a domestic dispute. Majors’ criminal defense lawyer Priya Chaudhry claims insufficient evidence to support this arrest.
On Saturday, the New York Police Department received a 911 call from Chelsea, Manhattan, at an apartment involving a domestic dispute between a 33-year-old male and a 30-year-old female. According to the police, the woman claimed she was attacked, prompting them to arrest the man, identified as Majors. They then took the woman to the hospital for treatment for her minor neck and head injuries while Majors was charged with strangulation, assault, and harassment.
Priya Chaudhry claims that a significant amount of evidence proves that Majors is innocent of the assault “and is probably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows.” Chaudhry’s evidence supposedly includes “video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations.”
She claims that the only reason that Majors was arrested was that the woman was having an “emotional crisis” that resulted in her hospitalization. “The NYPD is required to arrest in these situations,” Chaudhry states, “and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested.” She hopes this purported evidence will be enough to have all charges against Majors dropped immediately after being presented to the District Attorney.
Majors is currently out of police custody, though there is no word as to whether this will affect his work in his upcoming bodybuilder drama Magazine Dreams, set to release on December 8, 2023, or his future career in Marvel projects like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
