Greg Johnson is writing a new movie for Simon West, who directed The Expandables 2, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and Con Air, who has confirmed he will be working on the movie. Inglorious Basterds and Django‘s star Christopher Waltz is set to play old hitman Terry Eubanks.
Eubanks gets stuck in a dead end, and he gets excited when The Company drags him back into the field, but only to train a Gen Z newcomer, Wihlborg. The unlikely pair eliminates top members of a rival crime syndicate while uncovering their employer’s true motives. However, the company never expected that Terry’s experience combined with the boy’s talent would create an unlikely bond between the two that could all be attributed to the company.
Co-financing the film is Highland Film Group, which is being produced by Jib Polhemus (The Expendables 2) and Martin Brennan (One Way), and Hal Sadoff (The Nice Guys) and Norman Golightly (Lord of War) for Dark Castle Entertainment.
Before Waltz confirmed he would star in the film, he lent his voice to Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.
Deadline shares Waltz’s comment on the new film, stating, “It’s very rare that a script like this one comes along. When it does you have to grab it with both hands and don’t let it go until you find your perfect actor. I’ve wanted to work with Christoph Waltz for many years. He is one of the most versatile actors working today. I can’t wait to see him create yet another unique and iconic character.”
Production of the movie is set to start in early 2023 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
