Wednesday night Michael Keaton confirmed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he will be returning sometime in the future as the Vulture in the MCU. The actor gave the late-night host very little information beyond that, as Marvel always tends to be strictly secretive around their future projects.
Michael Keaton is enjoying his moment returning to big franchises. Not satisfied with the big reveal during the DC Fandom as Batman in the upcoming The Flash movie, he has now also confirmed his return as Tom Holland’s Spider-Man villain the Vulture. Mr. Keaton was playing coy around Jimmy Kimmel’s questions pretending that he doesn’t understand the lore and the context in which everything is happening. The actor described to his host how before shooting a scene he gets prepped and debriefed and he just goes along acting as if he understood what the film crew is talking about. Despite Jimmy Kimmel’s best efforts, scarcely any information was pulled out of the actor beside his presence as the Vulture in a yet unnamed future Marvel movie. All he could say was, “I’m shooting tomorrow. I’m shooting Vulture stuff.” When Kimmel tried to dig deeper Keaton simply replied again with “Vulture stuff”. The Spider-Man villain was last seen in Homecoming when he was the main antagonist to Peter Parker and was tied to a major plot twist as he was revealed to be Liz’s dad.
Unrelated to the MCU, the actor did confirm to his host after he interrogated him for more details of Ben Affleck also making an appearance as a version of Batman in DC’s upcoming film The Flash. When asked if more actors such as Val Kilmer who had previously worn the iconic black suit and cape in the 90s will be appearing in The Flash, Keaton answered he didn’t know. The actor’s return to both the MCU and the DCEU has many fans of the comic world speculating on what the ramifications for those characters may be in future films.
